Late observation

If you ever want to feel really lonely, listen to Fogelberg's "Same Old Auld Lang Syne" at 2:30 am on a Tuesday morning.

Well, I'll give that tune a try, but most of my suicidal-lonely music collection consists of Peter Gabriel tunes. Oh yes, and that one called "Everybody Hurts" by REM.

Music to slit your wrists by. Perhaps that should be the name of my second book?

Wow...another one of those great old songs that you and I used to crank so many years ago, Dave!
We ought to make a nice little list of all of those that were new then, that have become "really timeless classics" now, as trite and overused as that sounds.
Ahhh...the days of Warsaw, never having been married, not really having any grown-up responsibilites (although we THOUGHT we did) blah-blah-blah, yadda-yadda-yadda.

Next time, put up a shot of Saturn. Its got lots of moons so none if them gets lonely. And play "Back in the Saddle Again" (back when a friend is a friend).

When I'm depressed I listen to "Freebird" REALLY LOUD. I prefer those 20-minute versions. The reason for this is that 20 minutes is a long time as far as concentrated introspection is concerned and eventually -- about when the guitar solo does that octave change -- the realization that I am being silly sets in.

That song is the worst, sometimes. When I'm not feeling nostalgic myself, it does nothing for me. Others on my list: Gypsy (Suzanane Vega); Love Will Come to You (Indigo Girls); and Breathe (Anna Nalick). Also Long December (Counting Crows) if you really want to kill yourslelf.

Can't you sleep? You poor baby.

Gary and Lilly05 had comments similar to what I was going to say. Living alone can be quite an adjustment. If it weren't for my cats, I probably would not speak at home for days at a time! Maybe we should have some kind of phone tree, there are many nights when I am wide awake, probably looking at the same moon you are. I found the music by Bread makes me feel that way. Today is a new day :)

That song always makes me sad. I always feel like crying when I hear it. Especially the line at the end that says while he watched her drive away, "The snow turned into rain." Even when it first came out when I was all of 12, it affected me that way.
