A Cottage For Sale

"Our little dream castle with every dream gone,
Is lonely and silent, the shades are all drawn...
And my heart is heavy as I gaze upon
A Cottage For Sale"

It's been a busy week here at the Morris compound, as we've prepared our home to put on the market. It's waaaaaay too much for just me, so I'm moving into a really nice custom-built condo, less space and VERY sweet... including a great place to put my business.

So if you're looking for a home, it's listed at $509,900 - and here's a sample of what you'll get:

View from the front, a beautiful home with fabulous landscaping and amazing curb appeal... but this picture shows the ONLY shortfall of this house - a two car garage.

Lots of open space and light, a GREAT view of the backyard with pool, spa, waterfall and patio, there are 5 bedrooms, 3.5 baths, great room, open-air atrium with palm trees, family room, bar, wine cellar, theater room, workout room, office and pool table room. Perfect for family and entertaining. The see-through fireplace is great to cozy up to in Winter, either from the kitchen side or the great room.

Part of the backyard, a view of the heated pool and waterfall. The seven-person hottub is out of view to the left.

More of the backyard, it's serene and gorgeous.

I hate to leave this home - but it deserves to have a family who can fill it with love.

It's in Wildwood, MO - near Clayton and Clarkson in west St. Louis county. Drop me an e-mail if you're interested.

And now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go cry.

Assuming I can actually afford my current monthly rent, if I were to pay the same amount each month on a mortgage, I could buy your house in a short 59 years (if my loan were interest-free). If you'll excuse me, I'm going to go stir up a socialist uprising. From now on, I am going to call you "Bourgeois Dave." Man, I hate you.

No, I don't hate you. I just envy you to the point that I will be forced to kill you and assume your identity. This will be a bit of a challenge, because I sound nothing like you. I finally got around to listening to the demo on your site and now I'm wondering if you've done work in my market.

Funny (and cheap) shot: Does your Realtor wife have the listing?

Heh. Bleh.

I hear sadness. I think I'm right about that.
Sorry for all your woes Dave. The house is absolutely breathtaking and it's a crying shame it just wasn't meant to be.
Wishing you the best in your new place ~ with your new life ~ your new start.
Christ I sure wish I had a half a mil and a moveable ocean.

I too hear sadness. I am sorry you won't be keeping your castle. It is beautiful. I wish you well on your new life.

The sadness has been evident here for a while. It was much more subtle early on but you are now clearly upset. I wanted to comment a while back but thought it might be creepy since you are merely an an internet friend (a very much one-sided relationship.) That said, now that it is clear things are over I want to send my condolences. It will be hard for a while but remember that time heals all. I am praying for your peace.

If I had a half mil (and weren't such a city snob - I live on the south side - STL - hate the county), I would be all over your place - for the pool alone.

Chris, I don't think I'm on a station up there right now, but I'm on numerous commercials that play nationwide. I'm glad you don't really hate me though.

Hoss, you can be a cold, cold man sometimes. Bleh! hahaha!

Carol, Angie... thanks for the nice thoughts, I feel better just reading your words.

Gwen, "merely" an internet friend? Sure, our conversations take place exclusively in my comments section, but don't underestimate the power of good friends in far away places... even if it IS as close as south city. And if you ever want a swim, just shoot me an email! It's on my profile page.

Dave,

Does the condo have a cigar room? That's the fave part of the house, man...

Well, that and the bathroom.
