R. I. P.

Diagnosed with lung cancer in April, "World News Tonight" anchor Peter Jennings is dead 4 short months later at the age of 67.

He was the best at his craft. I remember when September 11 happened, the only anchor I wanted to see was Jennings.

Dammit. He owed me ten dollars.

I couldn't agree more Dave. I was genuinely sad to hear it. He had sincerity, integrety and a down to earth accessability which showed in everything he did. I guess I'm done watching the news.

I blogged about him this morning too. I didn't know he was even sick. So sad, he really was so great, and too young.

Yeah, wow, he was young, and that was fast! Very good newsman.

So odd you mentioned September 11th because that was the first thing I thought of after hearing about his death. At a time when we (Americans) could barely count on anything as real, he brought us back around with his warmth and integrity. He was a treasure in his field.

I saw he quit smoking in 1985 but started up again after the September 11th attacks. Damn cigarettes...

Yeah, life really does go by too fast. That is what I said in my very first blog! Wish there was more time to savor it.
