Rolled up into one

My friend Chris has issued a proclamation that all who read his blog should post pictures of themselves wearing rolled jeans. Why? Because it screams "I lived through the 80s and you can't take that away from me."

I've gone one step further, adding sandals with black socks to my already-fashion-challenged photo.

By the way, I was actually guilty of wearing black socks with sandals once. Here's how my fashion gaffe came to be:

I got home from a meeting, and immediately (as I always do) removed my shoes. I removed my pants and replaced them with shorts... but prior to taking off the socks, realized it had begun raining.

Earlier in the day, I was cleaning out the gutter and had left some materials and the ladder up against the house outside. In order to hasten the movement of those materials into the garage, I threw on a pair of sandals that happened to be sitting by the door.

So there I was. Shorts, black socks, sandals. I wasn't outside for, I swear, 30 seconds... but during that little window of time, our neighor Liz and her daughter Meagan drove by. Down rolls their window, out comes the wolf whistles, screams and hysterical laughter... and I was a branded man.

Phuque.

They will never let me forget that fateful day. They are both bitches. And of course, by "bitches," I mean... you know, bitches.

I was afraid of this. You're much sicker, aren't you?

You have the roll all wrong!! It is supposed to be tight rolled! That was the thing in the 80's.

I was going to let you know the roll was wrong - but Chris already did...

So I'll just ask if you had the collar of your shirt up too?

As a young single mom during most of the 80s, I was too poor to keep up with fashion trends.

Now I just don't give a damn.

I was going to mention something about the roll too. It looks rolled, but is it FRENCH rolled? Sadly, I'm sure I have pictures of me in french rolled jeans (and those godawful bodysuits). Never again!

Yes... tight rolled.

Fold over TIGHT and THEN roll. SO it cuts off your ciculation. Then add layered color bunched socks... 2 colors...

I know all about this shit Dave. I was the tight roll queen!!

Okay. I'm going to say this once, and thus, be done with it...

I am aware of the tight-roll procedure, but two reasons I didn't tight-roll for the picture.

1- at one time I was SO proficient at the tight-roll that I almost lost a foot after falling asleep inadvertently with the tight-roll. (true story) (well, not really true, but almost) (okay, not even close, but it makes for a good excuse)

2- I've been so sick this week, I simply didn't have the energy to put into forming a tight-roll. Can you people find it in your heart to CLIMB DOWN OFF MY FREAKING BACK? ;)

But the view from up here on your back is so nice.

You seem to have forgotten, my dear, that you were also wearing a "wife beater" t-shirt to top it all off. And thus.. the outfit was complete. And OH... SOOOOOOO SEXY!!!!!!

Adding to my last comment... about the t-shirt...

i do have to stick on dave's side for this one and say that i think technically that tight-rolling was specifically early-90's and not the 80's.... i remember tight-rolling being all the rage while i was in fifth grade - definitely the year of '90-'91...

just sayin'...

It never fails: the universe conspires at that exact moment where we will look least attractive to send bitches into our path.
