Johnny Depp? Janie Depp?

The androgenous Charlie in the new movie Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (dirty minds could interpret this as a porn title) freaks me out. He/she looks unreal, just really weird.

I haven't seen the film yet, (and I probably won't) but from the trailer it just feels like an odd movie. I've heard the part was written to be neither male nor female. If you've seen it, shed some light for me, I could be completely off base.

What you're looking for is "androgynous." You're welcome.

(P.S. I know nothing about the movie, or Johnny Depp, or getting beamed up. The Reo was a pretty good car, though.)

Totally agree ... I've seen the movie, and Depp is just freakishly weird in it.

Definitely strange!

I'm pretty loyal to the old "Willy Wonka", so I don't see myself watching the creepy androgynous interpretation. Gene Wilder will always be the only Willy Wonka as far as I'm concerned.

Hoss, and to think I even looked it up. Both spellings mean essentially the same thing, but I WOULD like a ride in the REO, let's get a six pack and go.

John, the trailer was enough to make me NOT want to see it.

Lee Ann, I'd rather watch grass grow. Especially if it's the kind you can sell for 50 dollars an ounce! (yeah, as if I'm a pothead. sheesh)

Amanda, Gene will never be equalled... especially if they send guys like Depp up against him. I like Depp, just not in this role.

If it is a Tim Burton film, you are pretty much guaranteed that it will be out there a bit and somewhat cartoonish.

I like his work (Nightmare, Edward...), and I like Johnny Depp but I am not convinced that anyone will outdo Gene Wilder in the first version. He was scary, interesting, nice and mysterious all at the same time.
