This photo reminds me of a favorite childhood book, Jonathan Livingston Seagull. If you have a child between the ages of 8 and about 14, you should have them read it.
This is a fella who was flying about two feet above my head off the back of a moving boat. You're seeing him right before someone reached up and handed him a cheese cracker. Hungry little bastard!

Great pic...I still think they are beautiful birds even if they are a bit of a pain sometimes.
I read that book. I loved it even though there were hardly any words to it.
Beautiful picture.
Hey, a boid!
I like boids.
Seagulls slay me. Back in the city, they used to follow the ferry boat across the harbor every morning. Someone put some french fries down on the edge of the lower deck as a treat and then tossed the empty ketchup packet on the ground too ... one swooped down and ate (and I do mean ATE) the entire empty ketchup packet, leaving the fries in place.
Seagulls give all other bird's brain capacity a bad rep.
I did, however, love the story (JLS). Good call there, Dave.
Is it amazing, or not, that seagulls know not to eat the hand that feeds them?
